Göteborg City Theatre is looking for a blacksmith

Göteborg City Theatre works to provide the audience with a varied repertoire ranging from classics and popular comedies to niche, artistically sharp, and newly written works. Our theatre house with four stages is the largest in western Sweden. The main stage and our smaller, more intimate stages give us the opportunity to work with different theatre formats and contribute a broad palette to our repertoire. Göteborg City Theatre, together with Backa Teater and Stora Teatern, forms Göteborg City Theatre AB, which is one of the wholly owned companies of the City of Gothenburg. Together, we offer the residents of the city and the region theatre of high artistic quality. The work in our theatre houses is characterized by close collaboration across professional boundaries and with the audience at the center.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As a blacksmith at the City Theatre, you will work to interpret, create, and implement the scenic designer's visions within established frameworks. You are part of the decoration workshop, which consists of painters, prop makers, carpenters, blacksmiths, and wallpaperers. We work across boundaries, which means you will also work with other decoration manufacturing in close contact with other professional groups such as props and stage technology.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone with relevant education and several years of experience as a blacksmith, preferably from theatre, film, TV, or similar. Knowledge of MIG and TIG welding is required. You will participate in the development of solutions, constructions, and calculations. Knowledge in construction/strength, control and regulation technology, mechatronics, pneumatics, machining, and experience with drawing programs is advantageous.

You are a creative person and a skilled craftsman. You also have high problem-solving skills and good material knowledge. As a person, you are structured, driven, and have a good ability to work independently. Since the work method is project-based, where everyone contributes to completing a production, we also set high demands on collaboration skills.

As we work with both Swedish and international teams, you need to have good language skills in Swedish and English. A driver's license is desirable. Experience in making calculations for work, estimating work time, and making purchases is also preferred.
